Turning 30!

I know I don't look 30 but more like 20. Although I do appreciate the "you look so young" comments, can someone please tell the bartender that it's not a fake ID! I was excited to turn 30 and look forward to the next 30. I have embraced my new age bracket with humor, love, confidence…and this list… (read more)

1. I have finally accepted the shape of my body and that I do not fit into the apple or pear categories…but more like the eggplant variety.
2. I don’t know what to do with my hands when I am talking to someone.
3. The words that come out of my mouth are not necessarily formed by my brain…thus putting meaning behind the phrase “word vomit”.
4. I think I have bunions.
5. I have fallen in love with zombies.
6. I have no patience for ignorance.
7.  I’m more emotional…I have a little celebratory cry when I see ducks/deer/bunnies/dogs/etc. successfully cross a busy street.
8.   I stare at babies.
9.  I’ve managed to meditate and successfully hold a yoga pose without falling over.
10. Nothing’s better than hanging with friends.
11. Convinced my dog “winks” at me on purpose…I wink back every time.
12. Considered a domestic partnership with several girlfriends.
13. Wondered if I will have a house of my own, or manage to be on “Better Homes and Gardens” for making a cardboard box “work”.
14. Talk to my dog enough for my neighbors to think that I have roommates.
15. Realize that crafting can be both stress-relieving or make you feel like a complete failure.
16. When people talk about their kids, I like to contribute to the conversation by talking about my 13 year old furry "kid".
 17.  Having had several opportunities to just settle (with jobs, relationships, etc.), I have realized that the people no longer in my life are not supposed to be in my life and could have contributed to a lifetime of unhappiness and alcoholism.
18. Find humor in everything and dislike people who frown or take me too seriously.
19. Discovered that happiness lies within….and in Girl Scout cookies…
20. Life is too short and margaritas are strong

Despite having all of these idiosyncrasies that have become a part of my life, I am embracing 30 with a giant hug while carrying a flashlight and a knife…because the zombie apocalypse is upon us.
